Celebrating
the Life
of:
Henry Crudgington
1914-1995
Henry Crudgington ("Harry" to his friends and family) was born in London... to the sound of "Bow Bells" in 1914. He was a real Cockney!
Not much is known about his childhood but, after leaving school, he enlisted into the Rifle Brigade. Seeing action during WWII he was unfortunately captured at the French Port of Calais and sent to a POW camp in Poland.
When the war ended he was demobbed and returned to Winchester where he started work with https://www.kingalfredbuses.org.uk/. 'King Alfred Bus Company'.
During his 17 years there he met and married Mary Wake. They had three sons: Christopher, David and Trevor.
Harry went onto have a varied working life.
In the early 1960s he stood as a Liberal candidate for the Weeke constituency.
Harry worked for many Winchester-based firms: Currys, Brazil's, Atkins T.V rental, Bendicks and various local Winchester taxi companies.
Harry made many life-long friends, and was a member of the ROAB...
